IOM Lithuania helps to find temporary accommodation
International Organization for Migration (IOM Lithuania) together with the accommodation platform AirBNB helps Ukrainian citizens find temporary housing.
"Citizens of Ukraine arrived in Lithuania a few months ago and some should move out of their temporary accommodation but haven’t found long term homes yet. It is important to provide timely help to those people, so IOM Lithuania together with the accommodation platform AirBNB will offer short-term accommodation solutions. While living in the accommodation provided by IOM they will have time to look for other accommodation options.. In addition, newly arrived war refugees from Ukraine can take advantage of the short-term accommodation option as well," - says Eitvydas Bingelis, head of IOM Lithuania.
It is planned that Ukrainians will be able to live in AirBNB accommodation from 7 to 30 days and spend this time searching for a long-term place of residence. Short-term accommodation will be provided free of charge.
International Organization for Migration and AirBNB are successfully implementing this project in 7 countries: Poland, Moldova, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary, Czech Republic and Lithuania.
Persons for whom the short-term accommodation service can apply to the organisation ,,Stiprūs kartu” (“Strong together”) with the short number 1808, or they can directly contact IOM Lithuania organization +37061516930 or by email: IOMUArent@iom.int.
IOM Lithuania has been providing assistance to war refugees since the beginning of the war in Ukraine. The emotional support line for Ukrainians started operating at October. Consultations by professional psychologists are provided in Ukrainian and Russian languages every day from 10:00. to 20:00.
