IOM Lithuania to Provide Humanitarian Aid to Newly Arrived Ukrainians
The International Organization for Migration (IOM Lithuania) will provide humanitarian aid to war refugees from Ukraine who arrived no earlier than four months ago.
"For over three years, Ukrainians fleeing the war have been seeking not only safety but also human support. IOM Lithuania continues to assist people affected by the war. Those who arrive can receive support to meet their basic daily needs, as taking the first steps in a foreign country is very difficult," says Eglė Staškūnaitė, Head of the Migrant Assistance and Crisis Management Unit at IOM Lithuania.
Support is provided to:
Citizens of Ukraine or third countries who arrived in Lithuania from Ukraine for the first time and crossed the EU external border no earlier than four months ago and have registered with the Migration Department.
Individuals must meet the following vulnerability criteria:
• A single mother/father/guardian who arrived in Lithuania with one or more children under the age of 18 (support is provided to the child and the adult);
• A family with three or more children under the age of 18 (support is provided to the children and both adults);
• A family with a child under the age of 18 who has a disability or serious health condition (support is provided to the child and both adults);
• A pregnant woman;
• A person aged 60 or older;
• A person with a disability or serious health condition (support is provided to the person and their legal guardian).

Between 2022 and 2025, IOM Lithuania provided support to 7,219 people.
"We started with rent support, as the first Ukrainians who arrived urgently needed a roof over their heads. Then we provided non-food and pharmacy cards, which could be used to purchase essential items and medicines. A significant portion of the funds was also allocated to one-time cash assistance. We consistently support war refugees from Ukraine by trying to meet their most basic needs," says Eglė Staškūnaitė, Head of the Migrant Assistance and Crisis Management Unit at IOM Lithuania.
Over the three years of war, IOM Lithuania has assisted nearly 22,000 Ukrainians.
Since the beginning of the war, more than 93,000 Ukrainians have arrived in Lithuania.
