Our WorkAs the leading inter-governmental organization promoting since 1951 humane and orderly migration, IOM plays a key role to support the achievement of the 2030 Agenda through different areas of intervention that connect both humanitarian assistance and sustainable development. Across Lithuania, IOM provides return assistance to home countries for migrants in difficult situations and provides return and reintegration assistance to victims of trafficking.

IOM and the Migration Department signed a framework agreement regarding cooperation on resettlement
On 11th of August the Head of Division of Law and International Cooperation, a. i. Director of the Migration Department Evelina Gudzinskaitė and Head of Vilnius Office of the International Organization for Migration Audra Sipavičienė signed a framework agreement regarding cooperation on resettlement of asylum seekers from the Republic of Turkey to the Republic of Lithuania. Asylum seekers will be resettled to Lithuania in order to share responsibility between the European Union and third countries under migratory pressure and to fulfill commitments of the Republic of Lithuania to the European Union.
