IOM Lithuania will cooperate with VU Law Clinic
The Vilnius University Law Clinic (VU Law Clinic) and the International Organisation for Migration (IOM Lithuania) are starting a cooperation to provide multifaceted assistance to migrants in Lithuania. IOM Lithuania assists migrants in Lithuania in finding practical solutions to their migration problems and cooperates on migration issues at international level. The VU Law Clinic will contribute to IOM Lithuania's activities by providing legal advice and drafting some procedural documents.
"Migration law issues are often very challenging for the students interning at the VU Law Clinic, so the opportunity to cooperate with IOM Lithuania's experts in the field of migration law is a great pleasure for us. I believe that the students will gain a lot of new knowledge and at the same time they will be able to contribute to the assistance of migrants by providing legal advice on family, inheritance, civil, labour and other legal issues that we are very familiar with." - Viktorija Medžiaušaitė, Director of the VU Law Clinic.
"When assisting migrants arriving and settling in Lithuania, we face a variety of complex situations. Migrants turn to wage, family law, various civil and administrative issues, so a strong partner in legal aid is important in coordinating assistance. We are pleased that together with the specialists of the Vilnius University Law Clinic we will be able to provide comprehensive assistance and help migrants to find solutions more quickly and efficiently", - says Eitvydas Bingelis, Head of IOM Lithuania.
During the cooperation, IOM Lithuania and the VU Law Clinic will share their knowledge in counselling migrants, organise joint activities and trainings.
